Car Seats - Target Scandal

Published by jkrell at 6:08 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

We as parents, always want what is best for our children.  The best care, the best clothes, gadgets, and of course the best car seats.  Britax has proven themselves time and time again with their safety standards that they are the best car seat manufacturer out there today.  Unlike most other car seat companies that test their seats at a measly 35MPH, Britax goes above and beyond, testing theirs at a reasonable 65MPH.  Most people drive around 65MPH than 35MPH, and last year when the other car seats were mistakenly tested at that speed ALL of them except Britax failed.  Comforting, isn’t it?

Sunday I stumbled across Target.com selling not just one but TWO different Britax Marathon car seats for an amazing price.  Britax Marathons normally cost about $280, have steel reinforced side impact protection, and keep children harnessed up to 65lbs.  I, for one, need the extended harness feature Britax offers as my 2 year old is a chunky one and is too big for her current car seat and too small to ride in a belt positioned booster.  What am I to do?  The Cow print Marathon was offered for $59.99 and a print called Granite was listed for $42.99.  Since this was a HUGE discount, I decided to call Target first to verify.  The customer service representative assured me the prices listed on the website were correct and that it was heavily discounted due to the patterns being discontinued.

Of course I hopped on this deal and purchased both seats for my two youngest children (I have four).  I was on cloud nine!  Finally a slight relief to my constant anxiety while being in the van!  I was getting the BEST car seats available for my children at prices I could actually afford!!!  I noticed a few friends jumped on the deal as well as tons of moms from the social networking website I belong to, CafeMom.

Let’s fast forward to Monday.  Now, out of the blue Target decides they “made a mistake” and without proper notification to their customers, canceled all orders.  They said no one would be getting their car seats for those prices.  How could this be?  I called and verified BEFORE ordering!  I was livid, I still am livid!!  Come to find out Target is lying, a few moms have received their car seats for those prices and have picture and shipping label proof!!  Well what about me?  I have email confirmations and receipts for my purchases!  Why shouldn’t I be honored that price as well and given my seats?  This is an outrage!!

Trying to deal with Target’s Customer Service reps gets you nowhere, I would rather beat my head against a brick wall than deal with those people.  They do not care one bit about their customers, and have been treating people as if we don’t matter.  It is like they are saying we don’t matter because they have plenty other customers.  Well guess what Target?  Word is getting out how you are treating your customers and people are NOT happy.  There are groups angry, upset, and willing to boycott Target if they do not start treating their customers as if they are actual people.

News flash… Moms do not let things go so quickly and are not okay with being treated like dirt!!
